The untold stories of Iyabo Ojo’s five men

Written by Akinmade

Iyabo Ojo, the Nigerian actress and producer, has been romantically linked with many men, since coming into the limelight. Prominent among the names mentioned are five men.

Ade Ishola

She is vocal, delectable and visible. That about summed up the Iyabo Ojo lifestyle. You just can‘t ignore the Nollywood actress/producer. It is either you hate her or you love her.

Since gaining attention in the movie’s world about 19 years ago, the Abeokuta, Ogun State indigene, has been romantically linked with some leading men in the industry and also in society. These romantic stories and rumours were headlines while these ‘romances’ lasted.

In some cases, the actress herself was forced to comment on the rumour affairs while in some cases, she just ignored these romance stories.

Here are men Iyabo Ojo has been linked with, in the recent past:

  1. Mukhadas Eyiwunmi ( Muka Ray):

At the beginning of her reinvigorated acting career in 2001, after her crashed marriage, Iyabo was  ‘apprenticed’ to Muka Ray. He was a leading player in the Yoruba Nollywood section then. While the relationship lasted both were almost inseparable and the rumours of a romantic business relationship started flying around.

However, by 2014 a cold war started between the two erstwhile buddies as they avoided and shunned each other at events.

It took practically the intervention of Muka’s mother (‘Mama Ray’) and some elders in the industry before the rift was settled but then the two are never close again.

While the affairs lasted Iyabo Ojo was a constant feature in Muka Ray and his brothers’ movies and he helped her to grow her teeth in the movie industry.

Muka in an interview once denied that there was ever a romantic affair between them.

“To tell you the truth Iyabo Ojo is more or less like my younger sister, she knows my family and she is very close to my wife, she is free with me and she has been a reliable colleague, we talk a lot,” Eyiwunmi said about the affairs.

  1. Wasiu Alabi Adekunle Odetola (Pasuma):

Rumours of Iyabo Ojo dating Pasuma started around 2013 and got to a head in 2017. The actress was accused of ‘snatching’ the Fuji musician from her former bosom friend, Lara Olukotun, the owner of Larrit Shoe Village (LSV).

Rumours have it that Iyabo’s association with Lara and her friends inspired the actress into entrepreneurship and philanthropy. And she got the initial seed capital of her first major venture: the lounge and spa based in Lekki, Lagos from the Kwara-State indigene musician. Iyabo’s liaison with Pasuma was stated as the cause of the rift and final breakup of Iyabo and Lara.

However, in her relationship with Pasuma, Iyabo said, “our relationship is very cordial with no strings attached.”  She explained that the musician is a long-standing close friend.

On his part, Pasuma said,” she and I are not dating. She is my very good friend and we are very close. Outside of that, we are not dating.  We have not dated before, and we are not dating. The idea has not crossed our minds.”                                                                                                                                               Iyabo was an important guest during the wedding of Barakat Oyindamola, Pasuma’s daughter earlier this year, while Pasuma was conspicuous during the premiere of Iyabo’s new  film: ‘Under the carpet.’

  1. Senator Dino Melaye

The rumour of Iyabo’s romance with the former senator got thick last year with the news that both are planning a secret wedding in Canada. The news was allegedly inspired by Iyabo when she posted a picture of herself on her Instagram page flaunting a diamond ring and adding the ‘Olori’ tag to her social media name.

The picture set social media ablaze with rumours and speculations as some boldly stated that she just got engaged to the former senator from Kogi State.

But trust the megalomanic Melaye. He was quickly on social media debunking the rumours.

He stated that he was not a criminal and would not have a secret engagement.

“People using me to promote their blogs & 4 publicity stunt will have to start paying. Matchmaking 2 different pictures & writing rubbish now equal to engagement. Una no even fears 4 this Corona period..2nd base oo jare,” he stated.

  1. Apostle Johnson Suleman:

Iyabo was linked with Apostle Johnson Suleman, the founder of  Omega Fire Ministry and Salvation Ministries, when a  lady, Stephanie Ogbonna, in an Instagram post in March 2017, claimed she had a ‘threesome’ sexual intercourse with Iyabo and Suleman, in Iyabo’s house in an estate called 5 Streets in Agungi, Lekki, Lagos.

Ogbonna claimed that Iyabo confessed to her that she was in an affair with the apostle, who had been taking care of her and her two children financially.

There were no direct comments from either Iyabo or Suleman while the story lasted on social media.

  • Mr Ojo:

Iyabo got married to her ex-husband a movie marketer in 1999 when she got pregnant for him.ter. However, the marriage crashed in 2001, after giving birth to two children:  Festus and Priscilla, whose names are used as the acronyms of Iyabo’s corporate name: Fespris.

Iyabo said the marriage crashed mainly because she got married at a young age without any financial strength. She also accused her ex-husband of emotionally abusing her while in marriage.

When detractors started a story to discredit her that she was never married and she had her two children out of wedlock, Iyabo was quick to share her wedding photos and marriage certificate on her Instagram page to prove that she was once married and her ex-husband was not a carpenter.

Iyabo is one entertainment celebrity that has learned how to effectively handle her rumoured romances without causing a major scandal.

Once in a while without directly commenting on the rumours, she will post inspirational statements on her life, what get her going and why she sometimes chose to ignore these rumours while remaining focus on her career and business. She also refers to where her inner strength is from:

“I have chosen happiness above all though I have witnessed sadness a couple of times and may even witness more, God forbid!!!

“But no matter the obstacle, no matter d storm, I will always battle it and stand tall against all odds, because I believe that no one or any situation has the right to take my happiness away from me because I believe my God will never allow what is above me take over me and as long as God has made me unbreakable and unshakeable then the enemy will always fail.”

She has also once in a while insinuated about her love life:

“Love is cool and only the lucky few enjoy the better side of love. I wouldn’t say love has been fair to me, but I am happy with my life and I want to move on from here. I love my guy for who he is and I will respect him by not talking about my relationship with him, especially on the pages of newspapers.

“There is a man in my life that I love so much because he understands what I do and gives me rest of mind. The most important thing in the life of a woman is to live in peace and have kids, that is what I am enjoying at the moment. I am very happy today because I have two kids and I have a good job,” she said.

  • This design is steller! You certainly know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Wonderful job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!

  • I?m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that?s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
