The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set up a 12-member committee to screen and verify the nominated vice-presidential candidates for the 2023 Presidential Election just as its officials say the person will be unveiled in the next few hours.

Debo Ologunagba, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, in a statement said the screening by the panel headed by a former Foreign Affairs Minister, Tom Ikimi, is scheduled to hold on Thursday.

Members of the are Idris Wada, Osita Chidoka, Binta Bello, Mutiat Adedoja, Austin Opara and Aisha Madawaki. Others are Ayotunde George-Ologun, Chidiebelu Mofus, Fidelis Tapgun with Akilu Indabawa as Secretary and Sunday Omobo as Administrative Secretary.

The party has until Friday to submit the name of its vice-presidential candidate to the electoral umpire, INEC.

But Ologunagba in a media chat urged Nigerians to be patient as the party is going through a democratic process to select a Presidential running mate that will be acceptable to all.

However, he refused to mention how many of the Vice presidential candidates will be screened by the Chief Tom Ikimi committee put together by the party.

“I don’t have the number of those that will be screened tomorrow, I don’t have that number right now. The NWC met today, NWC is part of the process of consultation going on within the party and you should await the outcome of the process. We have up to Friday but in the next couple of hours, the process will be completed,” he said.
