The P-Square musical duo of Paul and Peter Okoye, have celebrated their comeback together after a public 4-year feud and break up with a concert in Lagos on Christmas day. It was their first performance together in Nigeria in four years. Earlier last month, they had a concert in Sierra Leone.
The event was filled with nostalgic feelings, energetic performances and a public apology to their fans for the breakup. The twins, in tears, knelt to seek forgiveness from their fans and performed to a crowd of screaming fans who sang along to their hits.
The concert also featured performances from Flavour, May D, Bracket, Reekado Banks, Timaya, J Martins and other top artistes.
Celebrities present at the event included Tony Elumelu, Kate Henshaw, Linda Ikeji, Jude Okoye, Lola Omotayo, and Ubi Franklin.
The duo parted ways in September 2017 after a disagreement on the role of Jude Okoye, their older brother, as manager.
During the breakup, the twins tried respective solo careers with Peter performing as Mr P while Paul became Rudeboy. They ended their cold war and reunite publicly on 17th November 2021, when they both hugged and shook hands at Peter Okoye’s home in Lagos. Peter’s wife and the duo’s older brother, Jude Okoye were also present and hugged each other as well.
The P-Square’s Reactivated concert was been postponed to Christmas day due to the ill-health of Mr P, during the rehearsal for the concert. It was initially billed to hold on the 18th of December.
In announcing the breakup, Peter took to his Instagram page:
“It’s been a challenging couple of days trying to power through immense pain, fever and general body weakness.
“We were very excited about giving you an amazing show on the 18th, Unfortunately, my body has taken quite a beating with several intense rehearsals back to back and studio that it just couldn’t take it any more and I have had to give in to Dr’s orders to get some rest, build back my strength to get to optimum health.
“The first thing I did was take a coVID test and thankfully my tests came out *negative* for coVID.
“I’d like to thank my brother @iamkingrudy, my family and team for holding it down while I get through this.
“The good news is, we will make it up to you and give you a truly amazing show on Christmas Day – Saturday, December 25th !
“If you’re a ticket holder, the wonderful team @livespotx will send you an email with updates and options.
“The show will go on and we can’t wait to see you there. Look out for electrifying performances from P-Square, some of your faves and more.
“Thank you all,
