Nigerian singing sensation, Tiwa Savage, has revealed how it was tough for her to cope with schooling and life after she relocated as a child to the United Kingdom.

Her revelation was contained in her acceptance speech during her conferment with an honorary doctorate at her alma mater, the University of Kent, on Friday.

In a video shared by Bankulli Osha, another artiste, via his Instagram page on Friday, Tiwa talked about her many struggles including severe bullying, suspensions from school and some other failures at some things.

“I failed at a lot of things.

“I was bullied at school severely when I moved to the UK, I ran away from home a few times, I was suspended a few times from school,” she said

She also talked about some of her challenges as an adult and leading singer.

“I’ve been globally ridiculed a couple of times, I’m not going to say what it is but it rhymes with ‘cape’. The irony.

“I also failed Principles of Finance at this very university when I was graduating,” she said.

The Afrobeats sensation has an Accounting degree from Kent and another certificate from Berklee College of Music, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Tiwa, in her speech, said that despite the numerous struggles, she has succeeded in becoming a “leading figure” in Afrobeats and stated that while some call her queen, she is to be referred to as “Dr Savage from now on”.
