The consequence of Will Smith’s slap to Chris Rock during the 2022 Academy Award ceremony might be far-reaching as rumours have it that the actor might be losing his Genie role in the film, Aladin’s sequel.
Smith’s portrayal of the mythical character has been acclaimed as a success as the film grossed over $1 billion at the box office. But Chris Rock’s mishap at the recent Oscars show is believed to have made some top Disney executives start looking for Smith’s replacement in an ‘Aladdin sequel.
Sources said Disney has begun talks with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to play an unspecified role in the ‘Aladdin sequel and some say that role might be The Genie. And it is believed that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is highly favoured to be the new Genie as some believed that he is highly suited for it. The Rock has previously played a musical role in ‘Moana’.
But there are also other rumours that Disney might stick to Smith with some spinning done on the Oscar Awards incident to make the top Hollywood still highly acceptable to the public.
