The involvement of award-winning singer, David Adeleke, popularly called Davido, and new hip-hop sensation, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable in the Gubernatorial electioneering campaign in Osun State has brought a new dimension to the whole political arena.
The two artistes were at the forefront of the entertainment packages of the two leading political parties in the state. Davido campaigned vigorously for his uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). On the other hand, Portable was in the state to campaign for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Davido, on his Instagram page, posted:
“No intimidation. No violence. No retreat. No surrender. IMOLE DE.!!! Osunguber 2022. AWA LOKAN”
Portable also released a video on Instagram where he was with Oyetola declaring support for him. In another picture of him and his supporters, he wrote: “Akoi APC, Akoi Oyetola lekan si. 4+4=8. O ti lo.”
While endorsing Oyetola’s reelection bid, the singer also asked Nigerians to vote for the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, during next year’s presidential election.
However, the involvement of both artistes in the campaign is said to have brought bad blood between them as Davido has reportedly un-followed Portable on Instagram.
But Portable, in his characteristic manner, appears unmoved. In a recent video, he uploaded he alluded to the fact that his father is not a rich man and he is bound to ‘hustle’ for his money.
