Weightlifting continues to add to Nigeria’s medal haul at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

19-year-old Islamiyat Yusuf added a bronze medal to Nigeria’s total when she finished third with a total lift of 212KG to finish third in the 64kg Women Weightlifting event on Monday at the National Exhibition Centre.

She finished behind Maude Charron of Canada, who set a new Games Record with a combined lift of 231KG  to win gold and Sarah Cochrane of Australia, who won the silver medal with a combined lift of 216KG.

Monday’s bronze medal is the fourth medal for Nigeria in the weightlifting event where the country had earlier won two gold and another bronze medals, the only medals won so far by Nigeria at the Games.
