Oluwafunsho, a popular fashion designer and owner of Asiwaju Couture and the wife of Kazim Adeoti, Mercy Aigbe’s new husband, has reacted sharply to the relationship between her husband and the actress.
Funsho, mother of four, based in Minnesota, US, in a statement issued in reaction to an interview Aigbe and Kazim granted Mediaroom Hub, stated that Mercy betrayed her trust, slept with her husband and crashed her marriage.
“You were a constant friend of mine back then. I brought you close as a friend because I liked you, but you repaid me by sleeping with my husband, Kazim,” she stated.
In a post on Instagram, shared by Asiwaju Couture (@asiwajucouture), Funsho debunked claims by her husband and Mercy that she had accepted the actress as a second wife and Mercy was not any source of friction in their marriage. She stated emphatically that she would never accept a second wife in her marriage, as she described the actress as her husband’s side chick and hinted at her seeking divorce very soon.
“Let’s get the record straight here. This post is regarding an interview recently going around by Media Room Hub with my soon-to-be ex-husband in one of his numerous lies.
“I want you all to know that in contrast to what Mr Adeoti said, I did NOT and will NEVER SETTLE to have a second wife in my marriage to him.
“Kazim, you should stop painting a perfect picture of a marriage you do not have with me, Oluwafunso Asiwaju Couture.
“You and your sidechick can continue with whatever it is you are doing, BUT NEVER come out to social media degrading me or my children with your demeaning and childish attitude. I will not stoop to your level of rubbish and stupidity,” she stated.
The fashion designer said Mercy was a problem in her marriage, even though she claimed that she introduced her to her husband and also invited her to his 40th birthday, which Mercy attended with her ex-husband, Gentry.
“I introduced you to Kazim as my friend. I called and personally invited you and your ex-husband to the 40th surprise birthday party I did for my soon-to-be ex-husband.
“You were a constant friend of mine back then. I brought you close as a friend because I liked you, but you repaid me by sleeping with my husband, Kazim.
“As for you, Mercy, let us cut the crap. We were friends, but shame and your glam lifestyle will not let you admit it. You have been sleeping with Kazim since your son was only five months old,” Funsho stated.
Countering the assertions by Kazim and Mercy in their interview, Funsho stated that she will never accept a second wife in her marriage and hinted that she is filing for divorce soon.
“I’m done. He is all yours. Enjoy,” she stated.
“Like I said in my first post, ‘Losing someone who does not respect or appreciate you is a gain, not a loss,” she said.
This is the second time Mrs Adeoti is reacting to her husband’s new marriage. Her first was in the wake of the revelation in January by Mercy that she had married Kazim. On January 23, 2022, on the eve of Kazim’s birthday and on January 24, 2022, Mercy finally revealed that she had done a third marriage with Adeoti.
Mercy, then posted: “It’s my Boo’s birthday in a bit Cc @kazimadeoti thank you for being amazing,” she captioned the loved up photo. She added:
“Finally I said Yes to ‘D’ Owner Thank you, God, of many chances.”
Funsho’s first reaction was the simple post: ‘Losing someone who does not respect or appreciate you is actually a gain, not a loss.’
In the Mediaroom Hub interview, Kazim, a former licensed property broker in the US, who now owns Adekaz Film Production and Ibaka TV, an online movie streaming service, said that he could marry another wife as a Muslim. He stressed that Mercy did not snatch him from Funsho as he is married to her.
“It is not true that they snatched me from my first wife. I am an adult, and I decided to marry Mercy of my own volition. Mercy and my first wife were never friends. My family is in the United States of America, and I shuttle between the US and Nigeria because my business is in Nigeria.
“Some people think I am separated from my (first) wife because my family is not in Nigeria, but that is not true. We are good together. Although there were issues due to what was going on, everything is under control, and we are back to normal. I am a Muslim, and my religion permits me to marry more than one wife. So now, I am married to two wives. I have two beautiful women, and I’m glad. Everything is good,” he said.
On her part, Mercy during the interview said she wasn’t surprised by the backlash on her new marriage but pleaded with Nigerians to respect her choice as she is happy and not the first woman to be a second wife. She stated that she married her husband for love, not his money.
“Please, I want to beg Nigerians. I’m not the first person to be a second wife. It is my choice, and I’m happy with it. If you can be happy for me, be happy for me. If not, go and get busy. I am happy. Just leave me to enjoy my marriage, please,” she said
“I did not marry my husband for his money but because he is my best friend, and I love him. After my bad marriage, I decided to concentrate only on my career and children. But when he came into my life, there was so much joy and peace. He is a good man, and I tell him all the time, so when he proposed to me, I decided that I didn’t want to lose that beautiful experience,” she added.
Mercy’s second marriage to Gentry broke down in 2017 following accusations and counter-accusations of infidelity and domestic violence, the couple had a son, Juwon born, in June 2010.
