APC NEC confirms Ganduje as national chairman, Ajibola as secretary

Abdullahi Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State, and Senator Ajibola Bashir, the former Spokesperson of the Senate, have been confirmed by the National Executive Council of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary respectively.

Their confirmation was announced on Thursday at the NEC meeting held in Abuja. President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima were in attendance. However, former President Muhammadu Buhari was absent from the meeting.

Ganduje replaced Abdullahi Adamu from Nasarawa State while Ajibola took over from Iyiola Omisore, from his state, Osun. Both Adamu and Omisore resigned from their positions last month.

Abubakar Kyari, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the party, has been acting as its National Chairman since last month.

The internal crisis in the party has led to some vacancies in its NWC. These include the Deputy National Chairman (North), Vice Chairman (North-West) and National Legal Adviser whose occupants have resigned their positions.

Also, Betta Edu, its National Women Leader, is expected to resign following her nomination as a Minister by President Bola Tinubu.
