Napoli reject Al-Hilal’s €130m bid for Osimhen

Napoli football club of has turned down a mouth-watering bid of €130m from Al-Hilal for service of its Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen.

Reports from Il Mattino via TMW, indicated that Napoli’s President Aurelio De Laurentiis has immediately rejected the proposal, indicating the club’s unwillingness to part ways with the talented Nigerian international during this summer transfer window.

Osimhen was a crucial actor in Napoli winning the Scudetto the Serie A title for the first time in over three decades last season. The 26-year-old striker ended the season  as the league’s top scorer with an impressive 26 goals in just 32 appearances, winning the prestigious Golden Boot award to be the first African player to do so in Serie A’s history.

This impressive performance has attracted lots of interests from many top flight clubs across big leagues. But it seems Napoli is only interested in securing him at the club and is already negotiating a new long-term contract with him.

The Saudi side, backed by great wealth, surprised all with its offer that guaranteed a weekly wage of €1m for Osimhen. This move was after its initial interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe was also rejected.

The Saudi Pro League has in recent seasons been making significant efforts to attract big players from European leagues with Cristiano Ronaldo making the big move in December of 2022.
