Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki, popular Anambra native doctor, kidnapped, bodyguards killed

Chinedu Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki, a native doctor based in the Idemili North Local Government Area of the Anambra State has been kidnapped by some unknown gunmen.

The kidnapping took place at Nwangwui’s hotel located in the Oba community of the LGA on Sunday night. The gunmen killed his two bodyguards in the attack.

There were conflicting reports on what happened when the kidnappers stormed Nwangwu’s hotel before his abduction. While there were some stories that the kidnappers had easy access to and captured the renowned herbalist, there were some stories that it was a tough battle before he was finally captured.

There were some posts on social media claiming that Nwangwu turned into a lion and scared his abductors, who allegedly abandoned him and fled. These claims also said that the herbalist has returned to his house.

Tiwaraki was known to have always boasted of how powerful he was with rumours that he supply many of his clients with anti-bullet charms and money rituals.

Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), of the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed his abduction, saying it occurred around 1.00 pm. He assured that security operatives were still working to ensure the safe release of the native doctor.

“CP Aderemi Adeoye has ordered that operatives go after his abductors and ensure his release,” Ikenga said.

He debunked social media claims that Tiwaraki has regained his freedom as he has no information yet concerning his return.

“I don’t have such information before me,” Ikenga said.

As the news of Tirawaki’s abduction became public knowledge, some social media users have started making a mockery of his acclaimed superpowers, while some are posting videos claiming he turned into a lion and scared his abductors.

However, some sources within his community are claiming that the kidnap story might even be a ploy to enforce the stories and claims around him that he possesses enormous supernatural powers.
