Mmesoma admitted to ignorantly forging her UTME result

Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma has openly apologised to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Nigerians for “ignorantly forging her 2023 United Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) results.

Ejikeme, who read the letter of apology before the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee investigating the alleged manipulation of UTME results by Miss Ejikeme Mmesom, on Wednesday in Abuja, pleaded with JAMB to temper justice with mercy and reverse the three years ban imposed on her by the board.

“I feel a debt of pain for letting you down,” she said.

“I had already admitted that what I did was wrong. Based on that, I hereby presented to you all, my letter of apology.

“I humbly seek your forgiveness for the mistakes I have made and the pain I have caused.

“I deeply and sincerely agree that I ignorantly got my JAMB result from another portal which was not a JAMB portal.

“I apologise for all the apportioned blame and all the pain I have caused.”

She said ignorant played a “significant role” in the process of obtaining the fake result.

Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, who was present at the Committee’s hearing with some of JAMB’s top directors, insisted that Mmesoma deliberately conspired with other people to forge the result.

Oloyede added that JAMB has shut down over eight UTME centres that have been found wanting infractions relating to result manipulation.

In May, Mmesoma, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, Anambra state, had claimed to have scored 362 in the 2023 UTME and the highest score in the examination. This claim led to Innosson Motors awarding her a scholarship worth N3 million. Her claim was later declared false by JAMB would claim that Mmesoma scored 249, not 362.

Amidst this controversy, the Anambra State Government set up a Panel of Inquiry with the task of investigating the controversy. At the end of its sitting, the panel declared said Mmesoma admitted to the forgery and said she was expected to tender a written apology to JAMB, the Anglican Girls Secondary, and the Anambra State Government.

Two weeks ago, the House of Representatives accepted a motion to investigate the said alleged manipulation of UTME results by Mmesoma.
