N55m Benz stolen in Abuja tracked down in Delta – Police

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed that the Mercedes Benz GLB 250 stolen from a car dealer in Abuja by a prospective buyer, simply known as Henry, has been recovered in Delta State.
SP Josephine Adeh, the command spokesperson, told newsmen that the recovery of the stolen vehicle, valued at N55 million, by the Delta State Command “is an indication of the collaborative efforts of the Police across the board”.
“The FCT Command had earlier initiated a discrete investigation into the incident, and alerted other Commands which led to the recovery of the vehicle”, she said.
A car dealer in the FCT, Mohammed Manga, had late last week raised the alarm that Henry, who disguised as a customer, absconded with the vehicle while test-driving it.
Mohammed said one of his friends who is also a car dealer took the Mercedes Benz to Henry and after the price had been agreed, Henry asked to test-run the car. But during the test drive, Henry zoomed off with the car after Mohammed’s friend alighted from the car at a petrol station to use the PoS to collect cash to pay for the petrol.
The news of the car recovery was first broken by a car dealer in FCT, Daggash Autos on Twitter in a tweet on Tuesday:
