Gbajabiamila resigns membership of 10th House, resumes duty as Tinubu’s CoS

Femi Gbajabiamila, the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 9th Assembly, on Wednesday, tendered his resignation letter from the 10th Assembly, on the floor of the House.

Gbajabiamila’s letter was read out to other members by Honorable Tajudeen Abass, the new Speaker of the House.

The former Speaker subsequently took a bow before the new Speaker and the members before walking out of the chamber amidst cheers and standing ovations from the lawmakers.

Gbajabiamila, who was elected during the 2023 General Election to represent Surulere Federal Constituency 1, Lagos for a sixth term, was appointed the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu. He is due to officially resume his new position this week.

During his two-decade law-making career in the House, Gbajabiamila was Minority Leader, Majority Leader, and Speaker at various times.
