The West Yorkshire Police in England have confirmed that a female teacher has been arrested on suspicion of “alleged offences” which are sexual and released on bail.
Even though the Police are not commenting on the specifics of the case, the woman is believed to be accused of having sex with a 15-year-old student.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the teacher was arrested following a report.
“Following a report made on June 6, a woman was arrested by police on suspicion of alleged offences.
“She has been released on police bail and enquiries remain ongoing by the Kirklees District Safeguarding Unit to determine the circumstances of what has been reported,” the Spokesman said.
Sources told the media that the investigation is being led by the Kirklees District Safeguarding Unit and the woman has also been suspended from Moor End Academy in Crosland Moor, Huddersfield.
The source at the school said the woman had been replaced by a supply teacher.
A spokesperson for South Pennines Academies, which runs 12 schools including Moor End, said: “Following allegations against a member of staff at Moor End Academy, a teacher was suspended pending a further investigation.
“The matter has been referred to the police, and the school is unable to provide further comment while the investigation is ongoing.”
