Roman reigns supreme as he continues his historic single-match wins run at WWE
Roman Reigns is just not the World Champion at the WWE he has raked in a spectacular wins run on the mat, not losing a single match in over four years and since winning the Universal Championship at Payback 2020. Then, he defeated Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman in a triple-threat match to win the belt.
On May 26th, 2023, Reigns reached 1000 days as the Universal Champion, making him a great champion in the history of WWE. The feat is so specular taking into consideration that no WWE superstar in the last three decades has reigned this long.
Along the way, he has defeated a host of other superstars, including Bobby Lashley, Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Edge, Daniel Bryan, Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyrem, Logan Paul, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and recently 2023 Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39. He has defended the title seven times, including the WrestleMania match with Cody.
While some analysts believe Reigns’ reign is a reflection of his great skills some believe his path has been smoothens by the fact that he is part-timer who doesn’t have to defend the belt all that much as he has been on a limited dates contract for about a year now.
The last time Reigns was defeated was in a SmackDown match with Baron Corbin on November 8th, 2019, when he was distracted by Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode which enable Corbin to win the pinfall. And that controversial defeat is responsible for the continuing feud between him and Corbin. This means he has not been defeated in a single match for over 1300 days.
Interestingly, Reigns has also been a big success at WrestleMania. He has won eight of the 10 WrestleMania matches he was involved in.
The 37-year-old wrestler has clearly shown that he ranks among the greatest WWE superstars with his current superlative form and this has earned him respect from wrestling fans all over the globe.
