Harry Maguire reluctant to leave Man United

English media has reported that Manchester United’s captain Harry Maguire is refusing to go on transfer from the club, electing to fight for his place in the team next season.
The talkSPORT reported that Maguire is ‘reluctant’ to leave Old Trafford this summer, and may have decided to fight for his place in the Red Devil next season. Maguire, who has dropped in form and playing time at the club this season, has been rumoured to be surplus to the team’s defence needs for next season due to his loss of form and the arrival of Lisandro Martinez as a partner to Raphael Varane. He was limited to just eight Premier League starts last season.
In the last few weeks, the 30-year-old English international has been linked to a move to some Premiership clubs, including Tottenham Hotspurs and Aston Villa. Tottenham seems to be the sure destination with the club’s new boss Ange Postecoglou is believed to be working towards strengthening the team’s defensive formation in the transfer window.
If Maguire refused to move from the club now, this might hamper United’s summer transfer dealings, which are already targeting some new signings, including Napoli’s Kim Min-jae.
