Oshoala wins 2nd Women’s Champions League title with Barcelona

Barcelona Femeni has won its second UEFA Women’s Champions League title after pulling off a brilliant comeback to defeat Wolfsburg 3-2 in the 2022/2023 final.

Wolfsburg led 2-0 at the end of the first half, thanks to goals from Ewa Pajor and Alexandra Popp during the thrilling encounter which took place on Saturday at the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

However, in the second half, Patri Guijarro scored a brace for the Barcelona side within two minutes to draw her side level and Fridolina Rolfo got the winner.

Barcelona first won the UCL title in 2021.

However, Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala, the reigning African Women’s Footballer of the Year, didn’t feature in this year’s final match due to a hamstring she picked up during the semi-final. She was also part of the side that won the trophy in 2021.
